Bonjour Les Amis!

Blooms Taxonomy: You may have noticed Bel-Esprit’s tag line is “Learning in Full Bloom.” What does it mean? Bloom’s Taxonomy, proposed by Benjamin Bloom, an educational psychologist, is a classification of the different learning objectives. Bloom’s Taxonomy divides educational objectives into three domains: Affective, Psychomotor, and Cognitive. Bel-Esprit focuses on all three domains, creating a more holistic form of education. Your child will learn in Full Bloom!
Curriculum Carousel: Students at Bel-Esprit Day School utilize the entire school as they “carousel” from room to room with each change in activity, as opposed to being confined to a single room with a single teacher all day. Bel-Esprit has developmentally appropriate curriculum that enhances students’ logical and conceptual growth, while emphasizing interaction between learners and learning tasks. The curriculum at Bel-Esprit is designed by college-degreed and certified, professional educators who are highly qualified in particular content areas. Bel-Esprit offers the best practices in education that incorporates the perfect blend of student-initiated and teacher-directed instructional activities. Bel-Esprit promotes everything curious and silly while delivering meaningful and relevant instruction through work and play. Our half-day or full-day programs help children (ages 3, 4 and 5) grow academically, intellectually, socially and emotionally. We also have a new Toddler Room for children ages 12 to 36 months!
Brain Compatible Learning Environments: Bel-Esprit offers specific brain research-based methods as part of our teaching repertoire. This accommodates different learning styles and transforms our classrooms into a place of inquiry, discovery and accomplishment. Our classrooms are rich in literacy, well prepared, absent of threat, and maintain a 1:12 ratio. A total learning environment!
Academic Calendar: Bel-Esprit is open 12 months a year. The academic calendar runs from the beginning of August through the end of May, with built in intercessions and summer camp sessions during the months of June and July. Our school calendar aligns with Litchfield Elementary School District, observing the same holidays and intercessions.
